This was taken on the homeward leg of a day cruise in the islands of Fiji. I was there for a short break to relax and unwind. We took a trip on a yacht which turned out to be the least enjoyable part of the holiday. On the plus side I got this shot on the way home as I relaxed on deck.
The experience and the 2 hour drive back to the hotel afterwards made the sunset there all the more enjoyable.
I enjoy the occasional close up shot – removing a little context sort of hones your ability to focus on small things like the dulled reflections of the brass and the texture and tension on the ropes.
I like the shot below (of that evening’s sunset) as well thanks to the clarity of focus on similar small things like the palm trees in the mid ground and the wine glasses on the table.
